insurance. he said there still listening to other options. i want to bring in bret bair. this has caused a firestorm of controversy. this poll shows 59% of americans do not want the democrats to go it alone. there are reports that they may want to go it alone. robert gibbs is going to great lengths to knock this down. >> this is all about the public and private discussions to try to shore up the base for the administration. at the town hall meeting in colorado, the president, and then kathleen sebelius, suggested that the administration might be willing to go forward with an idea that does not include the public option. by the way, that is government run health insurance. that is the plan that is included on the table. if they were going to abandon that. that sent off a firestorm of reaction from the left. now we have a lead in "the new york times" -- senior officials say they might go alonone. it is conservative democrats in the house and senate that have a real problem with the public option. in this briefing, the white house robert gibbs is trying to back away from "the new york times
the town of manhattan. greta: there is some noise in the background. what is that? >> they are -- bret: is "they -- greta: who is "date -- "they"? >> the libyans. it is supposed to be the second residents of the libyan ambassador to the united states. for years, the building was completely and utterly derelicts. it was overgrown, a community eyesore, and about three months ago, it sprung to life -- and utterly derryl at -- derelict. when youç are a middle eastern and dictator, whose regime set afloat of an ocean of oil, and youç have a lot of money to spend, even for your two-week jaunt in new jersey. muammar qaddafi has the habit of pitching is bedouin tent under which to receive visitors when he travels abroad. he had no place to pitch in that tent. he asked for a permit in central park and was turned down. if you looked at the level of expenditure that is going on here, you can see is staggering. it was a derelict property. it did not have a roof. this fence is brand new. my offense was taken down without my having been informed, without my permission, without my authorization -
. bret, carl cameron was covering it a little bit earlier. what is latest on massachusetts politics? >> carl listed a number of people who could fill that seat, and one of them is vicki kennedy, and said to friends and family that she is not interested. but you do not know after this is over whether stepping into that role is a possibility. others -- the list is fairly long of possibilities there but the big question for massachusetts is rather whether they will change along. it was originally at the request of senator kennedy that the governor not a point in replacement and that the election happened within 145 at 160 days. that was meant to prevent mitt romney from 20 republican -- appointing a republican. weeks ago, senator kennedy's family sent a letter to the legislature there to see if they could change it back for this appointment. we will see what happens. my guess is that they make a change and have the governor appoint a replacement, and there are lots of possibilities, a long list. i do want to mention about the funeral mass, we have confirmation now from church officials
of the fans. the last thing i want to tell you about, in wisconsin, remember how bret favre said he was ready to play football -- we just have confirmed that he is on his way, on a flight to the minnesota vikings. if all goes well in a perfect world, his agent says, he will sign. can you imagine having to walk across the border in viking country and see him where a viking uniform? where has the world on? jon: some pretty troubling passport camera from minneapolis. it is leading to an investigation. the tape shows daryl dinkins being pulled over for a traffic stop. a whole bunch of cops are punching and kicking him and even pulled out eight taser at one point. the police chief and minneapolis says there is a cause for concern, but they stopped short of saying what they did. he was pulled over why? >> he said he was at a stoplight. >> so they get out of the car, and declined is taken down and five other officers show up? >> that is right. it proceeded to punch and kick and elbow him. jon: i guess the question is, what did he say or do? for some time, they said, it does look good, but some time
